About

As modern and contemporary South Asian art enters a new phase of global visibility and expansion, there is a parallel need to rethink the spaces in which it is experienced. Indian art commands attention across the world yet market growth alone is no longer enough. What is needed is depth and time to engage with artists' ideas, to understand their process, their inspiration, and how they locate themselves within the artworld to build lasting relationships with art and artists. Founded by Sania G. Vohra in 2025, Antarang responds to this need by creating a space where art can be encountered with curiosity and connoisseurship.

The name Antarang is drawn from Sanskrit, where it refers to that which is inner, intimate, and inward. It evokes the inner life where meanings are formed and insights take shape. This idea lies at the heart of Antarang's vision. Art here is not approached for a quick viewing or a fleeting observation but as something that unfolds over time. It is experienced as a narrative through patient engagement thatenriches our inner world and gradually deepens the way we see.

Situated within Camellias, one of Gurgaon's most distinguished residential spaces, Antarang, offers a serene and contemplative environment to experience art. Its three venues - the gallery, the club and the hobby studio, create multiple points of engagement. Through focused exhibitions, dedicated workshops, artist spotlights, and open dialogues with artists, experts, and collectors, Antarang fosters an intimate and informed relationship with art.

Rather than functioning as a conventional gallery, Antarang seeks to build a community of people who want to spend time with art, to look closely, ask questions, and to return to works more than once. It is shaped around the belief that art is best understood in the company of others. By nurturing such a community, it acts as a mediator, drawing people closer to art, and to the masters from past to present.

Director's Note

Art finds its fullest expression when it is experienced together. Antarang seeks to offer that inclusive space where the inner meaning of an artwork can be discovered through community engagement and shared worldviews.

Over the past decade, my work in the arts has taken me through museums, galleries, research institutions, and advisory spaces. I have worked with public collections, curated exhibitions, written about artists, and advised collectors as they began their journey with art. Across these varied roles, one question has stayed with me: How do we create spaces where art can be encountered with openness, care, and curiosity?

Antarang grew from this question. I did not want to create another gallery in the conventional sense. Instead, I envisioned a space that feels intimate, where art could be experienced slowly.
A space shaped by dialogues that unfold over time between creative practitioners, experts, seasoned collectors, and those newly drawn to living with art. This initiative grows not only from my professional journey, but also from a longstanding engagement with art within my family, where over the years, collecting has been approached with care and commitment. That foundation has made it possible to develop Antarang as a sustained undertaking, one that is rooted in continuity and long-term support for artists.

Located within a serene environment, Antarang's venues allow for exhibitions, workshops, and conversations that encourage close looking and lasting engagement. By focusing on modern and contemporary South Asian artists, we are presenting works of thinkers and visionaries who have given powerful expression to the world we live in. Through Antarang, I hope to foster a community around artists and their works, serving as a point of convergence, where ideas can circulate freely, and meaningful connections with art can take place over time.

As we go forward, I look toward collaborations and partnerships that will extend Antarang's presence within Gurgaon's evolving cultural landscape and beyond.

I deeply believe in the importance of engaging with the art of our own time and Antarang is a space for encounters that spark the pleasure of experiencing art and bringing it into the rhythm of our everyday lives.
