Born in 1965 in Tamluk, West Bengal, Paresh Maity is a widely acclaimed contemporary Indian artist known for his vibrant visual language and dynamic approach across multiple media. His practice spans painting, sculpture, and installation, marked by dramatic brushstrokes, stylised figures, large-scale compositions, and an expressive use of colour deeply influenced by his extensive travels. He is best known for The Indian Odyssey, the monumental mural at Delhi Airport (T3), one of the longest murals in the world, as well as for his Rajasthan and Venice series, along with evocative landscapes and figurative works. He is a recipient of the Padma Shri and the National Award, and his works are part of major public collections including the British Museum, the National Gallery of Modern Art (NGMA), and the Rubin Museum of Art. With over 80 solo exhibitions held worldwide, he remains a significant presence in Indian contemporary art. The artist lives and works in New Delhi, where his studio practice remains rooted in exploration, movement, and visual storytelling.
