Anupam Sud (b. 1944) was born in Hoshiyarpur in Punjab, and trained at the College of Art, New
Delhi, and Slad School of Fine Arts, London. A promising printmaker, she was the youngest member
of Group 8, a printmaker’s collective led by her teacher, the acclaimed printmaker, Jagmohan Chopra.
Sud’s work pays close attention to the body, and in her prints and paintings, uncovers its layers,
dissecting complexity of movement, identity, the politics of gender and society. She has taught and
mentored students at the College of Art for almost three decades, and is a significant influence on the
Indian artistic landscape. Sud works from her studio in Mandi and lives in New Delhi.
