Born in 1940 in Nizampur, Laxma Goud's art is known for its raw, rustic energy, often exploring sensuality and rural life through expressive figures, bold textures, and mythic imagery. He works across multiple mediums, including etching, drawing, painting, terracotta, and bronze. With his artworks, he portrays his childhood memories with a distinctive visual language. His major milestones include Laxma Goud 40 Years: A Retrospective at Aicon Gallery, New York, along with significant solo shows in Mumbai, New Delhi, and New York, and participation in the São Paulo Biennale and Indian Art Tomorrow at the Phillips Collection, Washington, D.C. Recipient of several honours, including the Lalit Kala Akademi award. His works are housed in prominent collections such as the National Gallery of Modern Art, New Delhi; the Phillips Collection, Washington, D.C.; and the Glenbarra Art Museum, Japan. He currently lives and works in Hyderabad.
