Shobha Broota

Shobha Broota (b. 1943) was born in New Delhi, and took her diploma in painting from the College of Art, New Delhi in 1964. Her artistic journey spans several media, including printmaking, and several genres, gradually making her way from detailed portraits and figurative art towards abstraction. Her work is meditative, drawing the viewer into quiet contemplation through form, colour, and texture.

 A trained classical singer, she has taught art at the Triveni Kala Sangam. She won the All India Fine Arts and Crafts Society award in 1982, and another award from Sahitya Kala Parishad in 1986. She lives and works in New Delhi.
